Green Fire is a feature documentary on the life, ideas, and legacy of conservationist Aldo Leopold. Tracing his intellectual and personal journey, the film situates Leopold’s philosophy of the “land ethic” within the development of modern conservation, wilderness preservation, wildlife management, and ecological restoration. Aldo Leopold (January 11, 1887 – April 21, 1948) was an American writer, philosopher, naturalist, scientist, ecologist, forester, professor, conservationist, and environmentalist. He taught at the University of Wisconsin and is best known for his book A Sand County Almanac (1949), which has been translated into fifteen languages and has sold more than two million copies.
